Roos Wrap – Round 7 2018

ROOS WRAP

A tough assignment against Chidlow was the task for a young Roos outfit ready to test themselves.
Andy, Luke, Callum, Greggo and Della made way for Lindsay, Marshall, and Lachie, Beavo and Kizza both back after hand injuries.
Crappy weather to start the game meant it was wet weather football and the Roos were determined to meet the Cougars head on.
Both sides went hard at it from the outset and it was Chidlow who settled quickest to kick the first of the game. Dylan Gaz and Jake in the middle started to get some of the ball as we began to find our feet.
Tyson was on the end of some good work further up the ground kicking a cracker from the pocket to get us underway and when he kicked his second just before quarter time it was Chidlow a goal up at the first change.
The boys had belief as they went into the second quarter and it was quick ball out the middle that had us going.
DJ in his second game, was tackling everyone who had the ball and was combining well with the boys further up the ground.
Austin marked well to kick his first of the game and it was that man Tyson who took control. Three goals in as many minutes had him on five for the game before the boys relaxed to let Chidlow back into it, all square at the half.
It was a different team who came out after half time as we couldn’t get the ball past the half forward line.
Our backs who had withstood all the pressure in the first half through Marty, Nick, Chook and Crash, were starting to struggle under weight of numbers and Chidlow were really stretching us, three goals up at the last change.
More of the same in the last as the young Roos ran out of steam with Chidlow kicking away to win by six goals.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom as we had some great contributors with Dylan, Gaz and Jake all having great games to be our top three. Marty next best for his great work down back.
Tyson rounded out the top five for his outstanding first half and five goals, Austin two, Dylan and Kizza one each the other goal kickers on the day. DJ won the Peep Show award for his efforts before cramping early in the second half with Nick and Dev playing well across half back.
Some quick mentions, firstly to Lachie for his luscious lips, Della for running the boundary in the brightest hat you’ll see, Graeme for doing the water in the rain and Larso outstanding on the scoreboard.
This week boys a trip up the highway to take on Bullsbrook, more changes as we try to settle on a regular team. Let’s work on playing four quarters of footy, pushing to the end and improving at every opportunity.
