Roos Wrap – Round 11 2018

Roos Wrap

A week off last week as the comp had a general bye, our last game against Mounties on their dung hill, luckily it was a fine day on a ground still muddy from the mid-week rain.
Several changes from the previous game, Tank, Crash, Fingers, Musto, Beavo and Rhys, making way for Austin, Callum, Jesse, Jarrad and Stewie in for his first game of the year.
Mounties were quick out of the blocks kicking the first of the quarter and it snapped the Roos into gear as we quickly piled on the next four through Jake, Tyson, Jarrad and Mikey. Luke and Marty across half back were in everything linking up well with the boys in the middle, before both came of late in the quarter after heavy knocks.
A repeat of the same in the second as Mounties kicked the first of the quarter, again the Roos reacted quickly and started to really pile on the pressure. Goals to Mikey, Tyson, Kizza, Aussie, Callum and TBag had us big leaders, 11goals to 2 at the half.
Mounties continued to push and their efforts paid off again kicking the first of the quarter. Again, a quick reply as Kizza, Jakey and Dev in the middle, started to show their desperation and hunger for the contest. Chook, Greggo and LG put up the wall in the backline, Jesse and DJ found their mojo on the wings and the boys were back on track, 15 goals to 4 at the last break.
We were down to 2 on the bench as Stew tightened up in the third it was time to finish strongly. Kizza continued where he left off rucking well and kicking a cracking running goal on the left, Mikey was showing TBag how to mark and kick goals with a couple for the quarter, not to be out done Tyson chimed in with another 2 and we had registered a big win over an undermanned Mounties outfit.
Mikey 5, Kizza and Tyson 4, Aussie and TBag 2 apiece, with Jake, Callum, Jarrad Gaz and Myles a long-range bomb, all kicking 1.
Kizza our best on the day, Devin next, Chook third for his hard work down back, Tyson and Jesse rounding out the top 5.
Some quick mentions on the day, Micko outstanding on the boundary, Bill great in goals until you mimicked TBags effort to take a chest mark, Myles well done on finally kicking straight and Callum it’s a pity you couldn’t kick as well at training as you did in the game.
A big task today for the Roos as we look to make amends for our loss to Pickers in the first round, a must win game if we are to hold on to second spot. Work hard for each other boys, take our chances and good things will come.
Don’t forget our Quiz night next week in what is always a great event, 6.30pm Saturday the 21st at the Hub, make sure you book your table and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Carn the Roos!
